Homemade Beetroot Houmous

To celebrate National Hummus Day we're giving our hummus a veggie makeover with added roasted beetroot. The perfect topping for a Goodlife falafel pita.


  • 400g tin of chickpeas (drained)
  • 250g cooked beetroot (chopped)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 clove of garlic (crushed)
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 50ml water
  • salt and pepper to taste


  1. Place all the ingredients in a high-speed food processor and puree until smooth.

Are vegetables the secret to beating stress?

It’s well known that vegetables are loaded with minerals and vitamins to keep your body healthy. Now researchers from the University of Sydney have found that eating your greens could have a significant impact on reducing stress, too.

The study found that people who ate three to four portions of vegetables a day had a 12 per cent lower risk of stress that those who ate only one serving or less. Those who had five to seven portions had a 14 per cent lower risk.

Homemade Green Smoothie

Don't let those leftover greens go to waste. Why not dust off your blender and whizz up a quick homemade green smoothie!


  • 3cm piece of cucumber, washed and roughly chopped
  • ½ stick celery, washed and roughly chopped
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 25g red pepper (about one fifth of a pepper)
  • 1 handful baby kale (about 15g)
  • A few sprigs fresh parsley, including stalks
  • 75ml water
  • 150ml tomato juice


  1. Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and puree until smooth.

Homemade Garlic Infused Oil

Garlic... great for your ❤️ but not for your breath. To celebrate National Garlic Day, we've tried our hand at making homemade garlic infused oil and it's sooo good! Perfect in salads, for roasting veg and poured on bruschetta for instant garlic bread.


  • 300ml of rapeseed oil
  • 1 bulb of garlic
  • 1 sprig of rosemary


  1. Peel the garlic cloves and heat in the oil with the rosemary at a gentle simmer for 20 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and cover and leave to cool completely.
  3. Strain off the garlic and rosemary and pour the mixture into a sterilised bottle. Return the rosemary sprig to the bottle for an optional decoration.

Celery Chimichurri

Hate wasting leftovers?  Mix up your snack time with this great recipe for chimichurri made with celery leaves. It’s bursting with flavour and full of goodness.


  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • bunch coriander, roughly chopped
  • bunch celery leaves, roughly chopped
  • 1 celery stick
  • 3 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 75ml extra virgin olive oil


Simply mix all the ingredients together in a food processor and serve.  Goodlife...making good stuff great!

The US Department of Agriculture's latest dietary guidelines are advocates for eating meat - listing meat, eggs and dairy as the best sources of protein; without mention of the benefits of vegetables, grains or nuts.

A Stanford University professor, who is also a nutrition expert has hit back at the guidelines, saying that a vegetarian diet will do wonders for our health. Professor Stafford claims that ditching meat entirely (and not just cutting down on it) can dramatically lower the risk of diseases such as cancer, diabetes, stroke and heart disease.
